It’s never easy, is it? Especially when we are talking about John Copley, the Head Groundsman, and his 30 years of service with the Parish Council. But retirement, is a major milestone in many of our lives and brings its own joys and sometimes a tinge of sadness. From my point of view, I write in celebration of a tremendous contribution from a highly committed servant to our community, who has always gone the extra mile.
The Parish Council and many villagers will miss John’s significant contribution to our lives over past years. As we walk the village, noticing the good things, we can often say ‘John Copley provided that’. Now, this isn’t supposed to sound like an obit column, but more recognition of remarkable achievement, and to express publicly our thanks to John and wish him a Jean a very happy retirement .
(The next issue will contain a special thank you to John, and discuss many of his achievements. The Parish Council will hold a farewell reception: anyone wishing to attend should notify the Parish Clerk on 821314 for details) |
